Waiving Annual Fees on Bank Cards

  • ICBC 95588 Only one savings card or debit card under your name is eligible for an annual fee waiver, and the prerequisite is that you must apply at a bank branch to cancel the annual fee.
  • BOC 95566 If you already have a housing provident fund or social security co-branded card under your name, you cannot apply for the annual fee waiver service, i.e. only one card can have its annual fee waived. You must apply at a branch
  • Ping An Bank 95511-3 There is no annual fee to begin with, but an account management fee is charged (honestly I feel they’re all the same — a different soup in the same old bottle). For an ordinary card, if the monthly balance is below 1000, a 2 yuan management fee is charged; for a gold card, if the quarterly balance is below 5W, a 15 yuan management fee is charged. Ordinary card holders can apply at a branch to cancel the account management fee; gold card holders cannot.

  • Postal Savings Bank 95580 “There are a lot of different savings cards; some can have the annual fee waived and some can’t. To waive the annual fee, go to the staff at a branch and check whether your card is one that qualifies for the waiver” (this was from a phone inquiry — the customer service rep was a man, and I felt pretty confused by it)
  • CMB 95555 Only one savings card or debit card under your name can apply for the annual fee waiver service; if you have a card used for payroll distribution, its annual fee is waived. You can apply to waive the annual fee yourself in the annual fee service on CMB’s online banking
